Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and The Upper Room Ventures Incorporated, operating as UNPLUG ("UNPLUG", "we", "us"). By creating an account or attending an UNPLUG night, you agree to these Terms. No pilot is running and payments are paused. Operational and legal terms need review before launch.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing the UNPLUG application, website, or attending any UNPLUG event, you confirm you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and our Privacy Policy and Community Standards.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter contracts, and not barred from UNPLUG. You agree to use your legal name and a current photograph that is recognizably you. Real identity verification is unavailable and group matching is paused. No operating pilot or live nights are being offered.
3. Your Account
One account per person. No aliases, no shared accounts, no bots. We may suspend any account we reasonably believe is fraudulent. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account.
4. Membership & Payments
Payments are paused. Free prototype profiles do not create a charge or paid entitlement. Proposed paid tiers and prices are not available to purchase; any future billing and cancellation terms must be established before paid launch.
5. Conduct at UNPLUG Nights
You agree to follow our Community Standards at every UNPLUG night. Be kind. Be honest. Show up sober enough to be a good tablemate. Treat venues and staff with respect. You agree not to use UNPLUG for solicitation, transactional companionship, harassment, hate, illegal activity, or any conduct that violates the Community Code of Conduct. You agree to provide accurate identity information and to attend nights you book unless properly cancelled.
6. The Phone Jail
The proposed phone box is voluntary: an unlocked branded box in the middle of the table. Nobody holds the phones or a release key. Owners can retrieve their phones whenever needed, including in an emergency. Participation is an honour system for fun.
7. No-Shows, Refunds & Dropouts
No live reservations, deposits or cancellation fees are currently offered. Any future reservation, cancellation and refund procedure must be defined before bookings open.
8. Content You Submit
You retain ownership of photos, ratings, and reviews you submit. You grant UNPLUG a worldwide, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the service.
9. HOST Nights
HOST night screens are prototype functionality. No live hosted nights, venue bookings or funded rewards are being offered. Future hosts would follow community expectations and the voluntary phone-box procedure. No beta pilot is currently operating. No paid entitlement, funded reward or referral payout is available. Any reward pool, points, tier benefits, host nights, or referral credits are discretionary and may be modified, paused, or withdrawn at any time. Points and tiers have no cash value unless explicitly stated in a separate written agreement.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violating these Terms or our Community Standards. Serious violations — including harassment, harm, or solicitation — result in a permanent ban with no refund.
11. Limitation of Liability
Grouping and reservations are paused; we do not control venues, food, or the behaviour of other members. To the maximum extent permitted by law, UNPLUG and its affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service or attendance at events. No events are currently offered. Any future UNPLUG events would take place in person at third-party venues. You acknowledge that attending in-person social events with strangers carries inherent risks, including but not limited to food allergies, intoxication, interpersonal conflict, and travel to/from venues. You participate voluntarily and assume those risks. UNPLUG does not supervise, control, or accept responsibility for the conduct of other attendees or third-party venues. Total liability for any direct damages is limited to the amount you paid to UNPLUG in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Edmonton, Alberta.
13. Changes & versioning
We may update these Terms. Material changes are reflected by a new version number; you will be re-prompted to accept the new version in-app before continued use.
