The Beta Pact
Last updated: May 24, 2026
UNPLUG is in active beta. That means you're an early member helping shape a brand-new way for verified Albertans to share a meal without phones. This page is the plain-English version of the deal between us.
What we promise you
- Verified people only. Every member completes ID + selfie verification before their first night.
- Your data is yours. You can export everything we hold about you or delete your account from Profile → Privacy, any time.
- No selling personal info. Ever. Full retention schedule lives in our Privacy Policy.
- Honest communication. When something breaks, we tell you. When policies change, we re-prompt you to review before continuing.
- Refunds when we fail. If we cancel your night or a venue no-shows, your deposit is refunded in full per Terms §17.
What we ask of you
- Show up. Repeated dropouts hurt the table and reduce your reservation priority (Terms §7).
- Phones in the jar. The Phone Jail is the core promise. If you can't, this isn't the right product yet (Terms §6).
- Treat fellow members with respect. Our Community Standards are not optional — see Community Standards.
- Tell us when something's broken. Email support@getunplugged.ca. We read every message.
Beta-specific things you should know
- Features may change. Reward pools, match cadence, and pricing are being tuned. We'll notify you before any change that affects money already paid.
- Reward pool is discretionary during beta. See Terms §18. We publish payout rules and reserve the right to adjust them with 14 days' notice.
- Service availability is best-effort. No uptime guarantee during beta. Critical incidents are logged in our breach register where applicable under PIPEDA.
- You can leave clean. Account deletion triggers a 30-day grace window, then permanent removal of personally identifying data, subject to legal retention.
The bottom line
UNPLUG only works if both sides keep up their end. We're betting on Albertans who want real conversations over good food. If that's you, welcome to the table.
This Beta Pact is governed by the laws of Alberta and read alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
